Jiaxin & Julian Lloyd Webber

To celebrate our 80th Anniversary, we bring the special treat of Julian Lloyd Webber’s wife, cellist Jiaxin, performing the music of Bach and Malcolm Arnold, with insights by Julian into the music and his life.
BACH
Suites 1-3
MALCOLM ARNOLD
Fantasy for cello

In addition to a highly successful career as a cellist, but sadly, no longer performing, Julian founded the UK Government’s In Harmony programme, and chairs Sistema England. These programmes have involved music making for more than 60,000 school children.

Jiaxin graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, has been principal cellist with the Auckland Chamber Orchestra, and has performed many times with Julian.

In this programme they take their audience on a journey, with stories about their lives in music. They begin by exploring Bach’s Cello Suites, and why they were unperformed for 200 years, before becoming some of the best loved pieces in the classical repertoire.
