Our BCMS Artists-in-Residence the Pavão String Quartet were formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 1998.
Celebrated for an outstanding CD of quartets by Elgar and Bax – described by The Strad as “Intoxicating warmth and emotional spontaneity that is irresistible…velvet-toned, beguilingly responsive playing” – they also have a considerable profile in ”cross-over” music.
What is it about the musical intensity of these four young ladies which has audiences so involved, hanging on their every note? Anyone who was fortunate enough to hear their deeply moving performances of the Schubert string quintet and “Death and the Maiden” quartet at two of their earlier BCMS Residency concerts (both of which left several audience members in tears) or their electric Ravel quartet, will be looking forward to their final Residency concert on 13th May 2018.
